Père Lachaise, Paríž
Notoricky známa parížska pamiatka, ktorá patrí už medzi povinnosti turistov. Tento cintorín je najväčší v Paríži, zaberá úctyhodných 48 ha. Svoj relatívny pokoj tu našlo mnoho slávnych a pomazaných hláv. Vandali a “nadšení” fanúšikovia vedia častokrát tento pokoj veľmi výrazne narušiť…
Cintorín dostal svoje meno podľa pátra François d’Aix de Lachaise, z ktorého záhrady sa zriadil tento cintorín. Cintorín bol v roku 1993 vyhlásený za národnú pamiatku. Nachádza sa tu cca 70 000 hrobov.
Père Lachaise sa nachádza na ulici Boulevard de Ménilmontant. Stanica metra Philippe Auguste na linke 2 je vedľa hlavného vstupu, zatiaľ čo stanica Père Lachaise na linkách 2 a 3 sa nachádza 500 metrov od bočného vstupu.

Starý židovský cintorín, Praha
Tento magický a legendami opradený cintorín nájdete vo štvrti Josefov v srdci Prahy. Fungoval zhruba od roku 1439 do roku 1786. Najstaršie náhrobné kamene sa vyznačujú jednoduchosťou a skromným prevedením. U barokových už vidíme vyobrazenia ľudí, zvierať či príbehov, ktoré odkazujú na príslušnosť ku konkrétnemu biblickému kmeňu (Kohen – žehnajúce ruky a Levi – konvička), profesii (nožnice označovali krajčíra, pinzeta lekára, husle hudobníka a pod.) alebo meno dotyčného. Lev pripomína meno Jehuda/Juda, jeleň hebrejské meno Cvi, myš meno Maisel, scéna z raja poukazuje na ženu menom Eva (Chava). Hrozno alebo píniová šiška znamená plodnosť a múdrosť. Ľudské postavy naznačujú mladý vek mŕtveho.
Nájdete na ňom množstvo významých osobností židovskej komunity. Jednou z najslávnejších a najmystickejších je nepochybne Jehuda Liva ben Becalel známejší pod menom Rabi Löw, ktorému sa podľa legiend pripisuje stvorenie Golema. Mnoho ľudí prichádza práve na jeho hrob, kde nechávajú kamienky spolu so želaniami, ktoré sa určite podľa legendy naplnia.

Tento cintorín vďačí svojej sláve nielen slávnym osobnostiam, ktorí na ňom našli posledný odpočinok, ale aj jedinečným architektonickým prvkom a sochám. Tento cintorín otvoril svoje brány v roku 1851. Neskôr sa stal neskutočnou inšpiráciou pre mnohých filozofov, cestovateľov, spisovateľov a iných umelcov. Dokonca ovplyvnil aj kultovú kapelu Joy Division, ktorá sa rozhodla ozdobiť svoj album Closer práve záberom z tohto jedinečného miesta. Nájdete ho na Piazzale Resasco.
